Profile
Prior to his role as an assistant professor at Colby, Flavien Falantin taught at several esteemed institutions, including Sciences Po Paris, Kenyon College, Middlebury Interactive Language, and the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. His recent publication, Faut-il brûler Sagan?, released in 2023 by Classiques Garnier, explores the complete works and impact of Françoise Sagan, quickly becoming a top-five bestseller for the publisher. In collaboration with Céline Hromadova, Falantin also co-edited Bonjour tristesse 1954-2024, a detailed volume on Sagan’s iconic novel, released in October 2024.
Falantin’s expertise has led to national media appearances, including features on France Culture’s Salle des Archives and Le Cours de l’Histoire, which attracts over 424,000 listeners daily. In the segment titled “Bonjour tristesse, bonjour succès: Françoise Sagan, une romancière populaire,” he shared insights on Sagan’s lasting influence.
In addition to his publications and media presence, Falantin serves as Review Editor for Literary History & Criticism and was a jury member for the Françoise Sagan Literary Prize in 2024.
