Marilyn Buzy has been teaching Instrumental Music and specifically percussion for the past 38 years. Growing up in Western New York she had the privilege to study with Steven Henry, Gary Stith, and attended master classes with John Beck of the Eastman School of Music. Ms. Buzy attended West Virginia University receiving a Bachelors of Music Education degree while studying percussion with David Satterfield, Philip Faini, and drum set masterclasses with Ed Soph. While at WVU Marilyn was a member of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony percussion section under Maestro Lorin Maazel. Ms.Buzy moved to New England teaching in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and for the past 25 years in Central Maine. She has been a member of the New England Wind Symphony, Metropolitan Wind Symphony, Casco Bay Concert Band, Bangor Symphony Orchestra, Pit percussionist at the Waterville Opera House, Bowdoin Wind Ensemble and Edith Jones Project, an all women's Jazz Band. Ms Buzy has taught pre-K to the Collegiate level and currently is the head of the Music Department at Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield Maine and Principal Percussionist for the Colby Symphony Orchestra under Jinwook Park. She frequently adjudicates at the District and State level and has had the pleasure of Conducting District choirs, Bands and Jazz Bands around the State of Maine. When not making music Ms. Buzy enjoys spending time on the lake with her family and friends and their Bernese Mountain Dog Mochi.
