Bess Welden’s New Plays – May and June
Two new plays from Bess Welden…
1) After two years of collaborative creation with Hans Indigo Spencer, Dan Burson, and Leticia Plate, LEGBALA IS A RIVER will premiere at Mayo Street Arts from June 8-17. It’s full evening of lyrical text, movement, original live music, and live illustration. Step inside her installation-style set to hear and see the story of a woman whose husband volunteers to treat Ebola patients in Liberia, and how she, her marriage, and her family transform in his absence. There are only 24 seats available per performance, so please reserve early. She is also accepting contributions of any amount to support fully funded stipends for all the artists involved. Here’s her crowdfunding campaign, which includes a two minute video about the project: igg.me/at/legbalaisariver
