‘Colby On Tour’ Takes the Stage at Boston Center for the Arts
During this “JanPlan” exploratory mini-mester, The Department of Theater and Dance was proud to produce two student-led devised works. One of these was developed through our ‘Colby On Tour’ Jan Plan Course, and the resulting production, ‘Tick Tock: Memory Metamorphosis,’ was produced at the Plaza Theatre at the Boston Center for the Arts in Boston, MA. Performances were on February 1 and 2, 2019.
About the production: We draw from our own individual and collective experiences in order to imagine possible futures. Using this year’s Colby Humanities theme ‘The Presence of the Past’ as a point of departure, student performers cull their remembered experiences to articulate their own desires, hopes and challenges, set to an environment much like a mind in motion. The resulting performance, Tick Tock: Memory Metamorphosis, explores this world of memory and experience, ultimately challenging us to ruminate on the nature of memory, through its emotional and bodily manifestations.
The production was directed by Kelly Bartnik, with set design by Sarah Stefana Smith.
Student performers included Raquion Braxton ’21, Courtney Naughton ’22, Tina Odim-O’Neill ’21, Bethany Okezie ’20, Kaylee Pomelow ’19, Adjoa Tettey-Fio ’21, Helen Yang ’21, and Chloe Zhang ‘22.
