Yet Another “Nasty Woman”: Subverting Narrative in Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew
A performance of a scene and song from the Department of Theater & Dance’s upcoming production of The *Annotated* Taming: Or, Out of the Saddle, Into the Dirt, a musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, followed by a discussion. Introduced by Visiting Assistant Professor of Theater & Dance (and adaptor and director of the piece) Toby Vera Bercovici and performed by Colby students Caitlin Farrington, Joe Mariani, and Kaylee Pomelow, with discussion led by Caroline Bicks, Stephen E. King Professor of Literature at the University of Maine, and Meghan Charest, student of Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies at Colby College.
