Steven Strafford’s ‘Methtacular’ Kicks Off Theater and Dance 2018-2019 Season
On Monday, September 17th, writer/performer Steven Strafford visited Colby College’s campus to present his one-person show Methtacular at Strider Theater.
Methtacular! is the brutally honest story of Strafford’s three years as a crystal meth addict in Chicago. Utilizing a range of media including live music, audience interaction, and video footage of family members recounting their relationship with him throughout his addiction, Strafford’s account of his exploits manages to be simultaneously hilarious and devastating. Guests enjoyed a heartfelt, fun, and searingly honest memoir directly from someone who’s been through the worst and came out the other side…with jazz hands.
The sold-out performance was followed by a fascinating talk-back where audience members were able to ask Strafford about his artistic process, and about other elements of his life as an actor and a recovering addict.
It was a dynamic and highly successful opening to the 2018-2019 season at Colby Theater and Dance.
