The Dance Exchange Gives an ‘Animated Keynote’ at Strider Theater
On Tuesday, October 30th, members of the Dance Exchange, a Maryland-based non-profit arts organization, visited our Department to give an ‘Animated Keynote,’ where they performed for us and told us about their amazing work.
Over their forty-two year history, Dance Exchange has remained committed to breaking boundaries between stage and audience, theater and community, movement and language, tradition and the unexplored. They are known for innovative performance projects and creative practices that engage communities and partners across wide ranging disciplines, and for catalyzing collaborations across generations and communities that ignite inquiry and inspire change.
In this animated keynote — a public event that combines performance excerpts, multimedia projections, and participatory engagements — Associate Artistic Director Matthew Cumbie, Associate Artist Bimbola Akinbola, and other Dance Exchange artists will speak about the ways that Dance Exchange supports, connects and grows a network of socially-engaged artists.
The presentation featured special participation by Theater and Dance Major Gabby Foster ’19!
