Three Projects from Toby Bercovici
Three projects from Toby Bercovici:
1) Visiting Assistant Professor of Theater and Dance Toby Vera Bercovici will direct a ten-minute radio play in the Life in the 4-1-3 festival, Saturday April 29 at 7:00pm at the Academy of Music in Northampton, Mass. The piece, by Meryl Cohn, is titled Don’t Forget to Breathe.
2) Visiting Assistant Professor of Theater and Dance Toby Vera Bercovici will direct Stupid Fucking Bird, by Aaron Posner, as part of Silverthorne Theatre’s Summer 2017 season:
The Company’s second season production goes out on a limb (literally). Stupid Fucking Bird is rightly described by playwright Aaron Posner as “a sort of adaptation of Chekhov’s The Sea Gull.” The familiar characters are there in all their tortured glory, even if the names are slightly modified. The themes of thwarted ambition and family conflict are played out in this thoroughly contemporary and achingly funny piece which leaves no doubt about the comedic genius of both Posner and his prototype.
Stupid Fucking Bird runs June 22-24, 29 – July 1 @ 7:30 pm; July 1 matinee @ 2 pm; the Artsblock in Greenfield, MA.

3) Real Live Theatre presents The Life and Death of Queen Margaret, a feminist dance-theatre retelling of Shakespeare which premiered in Northampton, Mass in July 2016 and toured to Colby College in September 2016. The production, helmed by Colby College Visiting Assistant Professor of Theater and Dance Toby Vera Bercovici, will return in Summer 2017, performing at The Drama Studio in Springfield, Mass on July 28 at 7:30pm, The Shea Theatre in Turner’s Falls, Mass on July 29 at 7:30pm, and at Theater for the New City in NYC from August 10-13 and 17-20, shows Thursday-Saturday at 8:00pm and Sunday at 3:00pm, both weekends.
