Youth Leadership Camp

Two Sessions: July 18th – July 24th, July 25th – August 1st  |  6th – 10th Grade

Now in its fifth year, the International Youth Leadership Program at Colby College is designed to prepare students for academic success in higher education and to develop leadership skills that will help them become more successful in their academic and professional lives. For students entering 6th-10th grade: Previous youth leadership campers have come from schools in Europe, the United States, and China. Our aim is to bring the best and the brightest from high-achieving schools so campers can engage with other highly motivated students from around the globe.

Instructors

With a career spanning more than 45 years, Nick Ithomitis has committed his life to education. He has a proven track record as a highly effective school administrator, university professor, consultant, and international program specialist. He brings meaningful and sustained changes that raise the bar in terms of student performance, character development, and teacher professionalism. During his career, he has held key leadership roles in three highly successful schools.                                                                                                                                                                                                                              ­ 

Lisa Dalrymple has been head of the Department of World Languages of the U.S. Maine Education Bureau since 2014. An expert in world language curriculum design, she teaches consulting and related management. In 2015, she won the U.S. State Department’s World Language Education Model Award. She is also head of the International Education Program of the 9th Public School District of Maine, where she has made outstanding contributions to the international exchange program of the entire district. In 2015 she won the U.S. State Department’s World Language Education Model Award.

Gary Poulin serves as executive director of AYC Global Education, with more than 30 years of experience in information technology, business administration, and university education. He has studied and worked in the UK, U.S., Spain, Thailand, and China. Since 2000 he has been actively involved in the education industry and has a rich, multicultural education-industry background. He serves as an in-house teacher trainer, and he was professor of business administration at China’s Donghua University Business School in Shanghai and taught management courses as a visiting professor at Colby College.

 

Colby College

Our host is Colby College, with its beautiful campus in Waterville, Maine, in the United States. Campers reside in residence halls and dine in an outstanding dining hall on campus. Founded in 1813, Colby is a small, picturesque campus that offers a safe and peaceful setting to foster learning and growth.                                                                                                                           ­

Rates

$1,350 per camper per session (Partial scholarships available for Maine residents)

This fee is all-inclusive, including tuition, all daily activities, trips, lodging, and food. Airport pick up and drop off are provided for a surcharge (at the Portland, Maine Jetport) on the first and last day of camp (only for campers flying to camp), the cost is $100 dollars per ride.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         ­
