On Thursday, October 25th, Strider Theater hosted opening night of the Department of Theater and Dance Fall Play, ‘Set in the Living Room of a Small Town American Play.’

Written by Jaclyn Backhaus and directed by Colby Guest Artist Toby Vera Bercovici, Set in the Living Room of a Small Town American Play is the story of a group of middle- and working-class suburbanites living in Illinois in 1947, all enmeshed in their own tragedies. The play is rooted in the American drama of the 1940s and 1950s, and it playfully explores that style, as well as the pursuit of the American dream.

The opening night performance was followed by a reception and gala, plus a very special inaugural Red Carpet event! Guests, cast members, and crew were invited to walk the red carpet take group pictures at a photo booth as they met, greeted, and celebrated the hard work of our students.

The production had its third and final performance on Saturday, October 27.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the opening night festivities, and all those who came to see our show! Information about our other upcoming performances is available here.
