Festival of Live Performance and Digital Media: A Colby, Bates and Bowdoin Collaboration
September 24 and 25 at Bowdoin College’s Wish Theater
A collaboration with students, staff and faculty at Bowdoin and Bates colleges, the Festival of Live Performance and Digital Media celebrates original performance works centered around the use of digital media as inspiration for story telling. The festival is staged at Bowdoin’s Wish Theater. Times to be announced.

They’re back! Boston Ballet Principal Dancers Kathleen Breen Combes and Yuri Yanowsky, two of today’s most exciting ballet artists, return to Strider with another bravura program of pas de deux and solo work. Combes, hailed by the New York Times as “a ballerina of colossal scale and boldness,” is among the country’s foremost Balanchine interpreters, and Yanowsky was recently called “brilliantly versatile” by the UK’s What’sOnStage.com.

Dance Magazine says “bold, quick-silver, detailed and charming to the max.” The New York Times says “magisterial,” “a tour de force” and “thoroughly accomplished.” With a performance pedigree that includes appearances at Sadler’s Wells, The Apollo, Jacob’s Pillow, and the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Camille A. Brown and Dancers is a company on the rise.

Colby’s finest student performers take over Strider Theater for a special Family Homecoming Weekend event. Now in its third year (it’s a tradition!), this high-energy variety show features performances from Colby Dancers, Hypnotik Dance Team, Powder & Wig, the Colby jazz band and Taiko Drumming plus (drumroll please) the debut of the First Year Dance featuring the talents of the class of ‘15.

From Away is an innovative evening seamlessly blending creative writing (poems, plays and short fiction) with performance and dialogue. The evening begins with a team of actors from Portland Stage interpreting the work of three resident fellows from the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa. Stick around for an intimate conversation with the writers about the ins and outs of the creative process.
The Long Christmas Ride Home

Featuring puppets designed by Figures of Speech Theatre, the play puts the family on display to show how we love, hurt, and dream. This Time | Spring Dance Concert

This Time showcases improvised choreographies by the professional dance improvisation company Like You Mean It working side-by-side with Colby students. He illuminates how the former CEO of Apple and his obsessions shape our lives, while sharing stories of his own travels to China to investigate the factories where millions toil to make iPhones and iPods. Daisey’s dangerous journey shines a light on our love affair with our devices and the human cost of creating them.
