Honors Thesis Prospectus Instructions

Applicants for Honors in Philosophy must submit an honors thesis prospectus to their supervising faculty member no later than June 15th prior to the applicant’s Senior year. An honors thesis prospectus should include the following:

a) A clear and concise thesis statement.
b) A statement of the project’s significance and contribution to the field of Philosophy.
c) A synopsis of the tentative argument.
d) A description of methods (historical exegesis, conceptual analysis, textual interpretation, etc.).
e) A tentative bibliography (you should use Philosopher’s Index in compiling your bibliography).
f) A work plan for completing research, writing, and revision.

Submit this prospectus as an email attachment to your supervising faculty member, who will then circulate it to the Department for approval.
