In an Integrated Study, you’ll take two or three courses that investigate a specific topic or historical period from the perspectives of different disciplines. You’ll work with a team of faculty members in small, seminar-style classes to explore the topic in great depth.
Not only will you gain mastery of an important subject, but you’ll learn how to examine an aspect of the human experience through multiple lenses, to make creative connections between disciplines, and to think critically and write effectively while asking important questions along the way. Each Integrated Study satisfies multiple academic distribution requirements, including the first-year writing requirement.
Primarily for first-year students, the Integrated Studies are a great foundation for further liberal arts study. In addition to the courses in the Integrated Study, you’ll also sign up for one or two additional courses which enable you to fulfill further requirements and to explore additional interests.
