Fellowship Programs
Prolonged fellowship programs with the CTL allow faculty members to explore and implement new pedagogies alongside faculty cohorts and the CTL staff. The CTL has two kinds of Fellowship programs: The CTL Faculty Fellows, and the “Your Next Big Thing” Fellowship.
Center for Teaching and Learning Faculty Fellows
Overview
Consistent with the CTL’s Mission, Vision, and Values, our newly developed Faculty Fellow Program is designed to enhance the reach and impact of the CTL. This program will provide a Fellow with a broad introduction to educational development practices, experiences, and methods. In particular, we hope the Fellow will enhance the work of the CTL by weaving in their expertise and interests, which might include but are not limited to: inclusive or equity-minded approaches, contemplative pedagogies, embodied pedagogies, science of learning, or the interface of teaching and AI.
Eligibility
All long-term instructional faculty are invited to apply for this Fellowship (tenured, tenure-track, non-tenure-track continuing). We envision the Fellowship taking two possible forms for June 2025-May 2026:
- For applicants who will be on sabbatical and can dedicate 10 hours of work per week, the Fellow will receive $20,000 for their work with the CTL.
- For applicants who are not on sabbatical and can dedicate 5 hours of work per week, the Fellow will receive $10,000 for their work with the CTL.
Multiple years of support for the same Fellow might be possible.
Tasks/Duties
- With guidance of the CTL staff, the Fellow will establish a plan for their work in Summer 2025 and set specific goals for their work. Ideally this planning would begin at the CTL’s end-of-semester strategic planning sessions (occurring in May or June).
- The Fellow will contribute to the execution of one or more CTL signature programs: Mid-Semester Course Analysis (MSCA), the Course (re)Design Institute, the Celebration of Teaching, or the Learning Assistant Program.
- With guidance of the CTL staff, the Fellow will design and offer one topical session or more per semester, such as a workshop, roundtable, or community of practice.
- The Fellow can develop resources that the CTL will house on its website for future use.

“Your Next Big Thing” Fellowship
A faculty fellowship program designed for faculty at or past the mid-phase of their career. This yearlong fellowship supports a small group (5-6) of mid-career faculty (tenured, non-tenure-track continuing) to chart a path to transformed, authentic teaching. (This program is currently on hiatus.)
